10 Habits That Changed My Life (And Can Change Yours Too)

I started reading self improvement books during the pandemic, and the authors inspired me to be more intentional with my habits. To really notice, identify, and analyze the habits that make up my day, and to better organize them to improve myself and invest in myself. Here are 10 habits that have changed my life.

Running

The CDC recommends 150 minutes of aerobic exercise every week. I chose to fulfill that requirement through my daily runs. Sometimes they seem more like a hike than a run because I like to stop and walk in order to catch my breath and enjoy the morning scenery. But ever since I started running, I’ve noticed improvements in my mood and my endurance and strength. It also helped me with my discipline and the ripple effect of running affected other habits as well.

Meditation

Meditation helped me to clear my mind of extraneous thoughts, thoughts that created anxiety and affected my focus and concentration. I started meditating in 2019 and it helped tremendously.

Bible study

Bible study increased my level of wisdom and encouraged me in my prayer life. Speaking to the Living Word and immersing myself in the Word created room in my life for God and His presence and His grace.

Drawing

Drawing is more of a coping mechanism for me but I’d love to get back into digital art, there are a lot of images I want to capture.

Writing

Write every day and you will become a more thoughtful and wise person.

Reading

This, this, this. Reading gets rid of “brain rot” and improves your concentration and focus. It also is shown to make you more intelligent.

Going to the gym

This or exercise really should be nonnegotiables.

Journaling

Putting pen to paper really organizes your thoughts and brings structure to your day. Plan out your days and pour your thoughts on paper, and you will be able to manage your life better.

Prayer

Talk to God every day. It will not disappoint.

Organizing

Do a 10 minute organization/cleaning every day to tidy up your space and your mind.

Hope this inspires some of you to engage in habits that will help improve your life!
