cozy hobbies to try in 2025

Let’s talk about hobbies! I think hobbies are so important in investing in your interests and spending time with yourself. They’re good for your mental and physical health, and instead of ruminating, you can be spending your time on a hobby!

Here are some hobbies that I really enjoy doing.

  1. Drawing and painting — I’ve been an artist since I was young, loving my paints and sketchpad. Drawing is so therapeutic and there’s always something interesting to draw.

  2. Reading — I once read 10 books in one whole day. When I was a kid, I always loved visiting the library and was always one of the few kids borrowing a huge stack of books to take home to read. I love YA and sci fi and fantasy, and in recent years have been loving self improvement and nonfiction books. My favorite authors include Brandon Sanderson, Gabrielle Zevin, Madeline L’engle, Diana Wynne Jones, CS Lewis, Tim Keller, John Mark Comer, and etc. One of my dreams is to own a personal library in my future family home.

  3. Writing — I enjoy writing poetry, creative nonfiction, short stories, and fiction. I’m working on a couple of different stories and hope to publish one day!

  4. Knitting and crocheting — I love doing things with my hands, and find knitwear so comfortable and comforting!

  5. Embroidery — I haven’t done much of this in recent years but used to love sewing. Maybe I’ll work on making a dress!

  6. Piano — I started taking piano lessons since 5 years old but I’ve forgotten a lot of my old tricks. Something I want to get into more!

  7. Yoga — Love, love, love yoga. So calming and restorative. I love going to yoga classes in the city. Humming Puppy is my favorite!

  8. Running — I have got to sign up for a half marathon this year. On my bucket list!

  9. Cooking and baking — Love finding new recipes to try out!

  10. Chess — Really fun and makes me feel smart.

  11. Journaling — Helps ground me and I literally write down everything I can think of!

  12. Learning a new language — I’m learning Mandarin and Spanish.

  13. Digital art — Literally can spend hours on my Ipad and drawing tablet.

  14. Photography — I have 3 cameras! Trying to save up for a Canon :D

  15. Design and coding — I have a part time design and development business! Always love finding new design inspiration and app ideas.

Hope you enjoyed this post and have some new ideas for hobbies to try out!

What are your hobbies? :D
